The project consisted of a building envelope redesign for an existing high-rise building at 170 Lees Avenue in Ottawa, Ontario. The existing building is a twenty storey, high-rise apartment building (413 units), with a 2 storey underground parking garage. The existing building was originally constructed circa 1972/1973. The new exterior building envelope system included new wall cladding, insulation, window systems, and the enclosure of the existing balconies.
The new building envelope provides a cleaner look, increased floor area, and a more energy efficient design. To allow for continued occupation of the building throughout the course of the work, the project was completed in nine (9) distinct phases. The work was phased in vertical sections with interior renovations coinciding with the new exterior building envelope work.
